Image
The campaign team wrote to Cllr Kam Rai, his monitoring officer and chief executive to about our concerns over misconduct in public office. The officer wrote back per the below and would not say if an investigation has taken place. I say why unacceptable per the below.   Dear Mr Walker   Thank you for your e-mail.   The Council applies its policies and procedures appropriately and consistently, this includes the consistent application of residents’ general right to confidentiality.   Your reference to an apparent offence of misconduct in public office is baseless and without merit and will not be commented on further.   Yours sincerely   Pervinder Sandhu (pronouns she/her)

Should this be correct his tenants may have suffered harm. This is because if he had renewed his licences an inspection may be been triggered which would have led to the reported defects being remedied.   Redbridge Council is refusing to commission a transparent investigation into whether Cllr Athwal or his managing agent should be questioned. We say this is unacceptable, we say we must be equal before the law, anything else undermines faith in our democracy. We ask you you to commission an independent investigation in Cllr Atwal and his managing agent...
